Increased demand means continued success, expansion for CKM, Inc.

Inspired chemistry is more than the vision of CKM, Inc. Inspired chemistry informs everything the company does. After a year of success, CKM, Inc. looks ahead to another year of growth and new opportunities. The year is already off to a positive start, with exciting developments over the past few months.

Even before the coronavirus pandemic, there was a shift toward using manufacturers in the United States for the production of chemicals. Now that the world is in the midst of the pandemic, demand for U.S. production has increased even more. Companies want to buy products produced domestically for both quality and safety reasons. This increased demand has been beneficial to smaller companies, including CKM, Inc.

Second Manufacturing Facility

CKM secured a second facility in Franklin, Connecticut. The 50-acre  site includes a combination of buildings and farmland. The facility will be used for the manufacturing and purification of dietary supplements. Connecticut has eased regulations around hemp farming and CBD oil production. CKM, Inc. is exploring options for hemp farming at this new location.

Growing Staff

The increase in demand for fine chemicals manufactured domestically has led to new opportunities for CKM, Inc. The company is adding two positions at its Racine manufacturing facility. Currently, the company is seeking a production operator and a process chemist to meet the increased demands and expand the company’s production capacity.

Debt-Free Capacity

CKM, Inc. has been consistently profitable since the company started in 2017. The company is now operating at a debt-free capacity. Carl Sheeley, the sole owner of the fine-chemical manufacturing company, continues to reinvest in his company and seeks new opportunities for innovation. Sheeley plans to increase CKM’s production capacity to meet increased demand.

New Process

When inspired chemistry meets inspired engineering, innovative new processes are born. Sheeley and the CKM team constantly look for ways to make their processes smarter and more efficient. By looking at old processes in a new way, CKM developed two patentable techniques/ technologies/processes that put the company at the forefront of fine chemical manufacturing. CKM designed a unique way to move liquids without pumps. The company also developed a glass reactor that could change the way fine chemicals are made. Using glass instead of stainless steel allows for greater visibility. It’s also easier to clean.

New Projects

There are several new projects in the pipeline for CKM. The company is creating a pharmaceutical intermediate for a new drug for a major drug company. The process developed and scaled at CKM. Another key project is developing the active ingredient for medical food for children with a rare condition - GLUT1 deficiency syndrome.
